CORPUS CHRISTI ANNOUNCES SEVERAL ROSTER MOVES

Press Release

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – Corpus Christi IceRays General Manager Pat Dunn announced today that the team has made five transactions affecting the team’s 23-man roster. The moves are effective immediately.

First, the team announced that forward Josh Munford has been released. The 21-year old from Muskegon, MI has been signed by the Granite City Lumberjacks of the Minnesota Junior Hockey League (MNJHL). In 30 games played with the IceRays, Munford tallied two goals including one game-winning goal against New Mexico. Munford had 98 penalty minutes and provided strong, physical play for the team.

“Josh is a great person, a tremendous teammate, and a crowd favorite here in Corpus Christi,” said Dunn. “He wanted to get more playing time and we wish him all the best in Minnesota.”

Second, the team traded goaltender Anton Olsson back to his former team, the Texas Jr. Brahmas of the Western States Hockey League (WSHL). The 20-year old from Sweden played in two games with the IceRays with a record of 0-1-0. He had a 3.80 goals-against average and a .857 save percentage.

Third, in order to fill the roster spot left vacant by Olsson, the team acquired goaltender Mason Murovich, who spent six games with the Port Huron Fighting Falcons of the North American Hockey League (NAHL). Murovich was born on October 2, 1991 and is a native of Pittsburgh, PA. His brother, Tyler, is currently playing professionally with the Reading Royals (ECHL), but has played in the American Hockey League this season with the Springfield Falcons.

Fourth, the team struck a deal with the Topeka RoadRunners in which the IceRays acquired defenseman Justin Lutsch in exchange for a 2010-11 tender. The 6’2, 203 lb. native of Centennial, CO played in 15 games for the ‘Runners and was a plus-5 (+5). He was a former teammate of Colton Saucerman in the United States Hockey League (USHL) with the Dubuque Fighting Saints.

Finally, the team added defenseman Hayden Fitzpatrick from the Buffalo Regals (MM-U18, East) to the roster. The 18-year old played in 20 games with the Regals amassing two goals and seven assists for nine points.
