Westside forward Gould is 11th Warrior to accept an NCAA scholarship

Press Release

Westside Warriors general manager and head coach Darren Yopyk is pleased to announce 20-year-old forward Quinn Gould has accepted an NCAA Division I scholarship to attend Merrimack College for the 2011-12 season.

“This is an exciting day for Quinn and his family, as he has worked extremely hard to secure a future in the game and an NCAA scholarship,” said Yopyk. “Merrimack has recruited a very good young man who will be a tremendous asset to their institution on the ice, in the classroom, and in their community. Coach Dennehy and his staff have done an excellent job at Merrimack, and Quinn will help them to continue their rise to the upper echelon of the Hockey East Conference.

“As an organization, we continue to demonstrate we are meeting our mandate of developing players and moving them forward in their hockey and academic careers. We are proud that the majority of players that play for us secure scholarships in either the NCAA or in Canada, in the CIS or ACAC.”

The Westside Warriors congratulate Quinn and his family for achieving his goal of a securing an NCAA scholarship. Quinn is the fourth player on the Warriors current roster to commit to Merrimack and will be joining former teammate Brendan Ellis.

Gould has compiled 15 goals and 17 assists in all 43 games Westside has played this year. The achievement caps off quite a month for Quinn as he was the Warriors Player of the Month for December 2010. He is the 11th player on the current Westside roster to secure an NCAA scholarship.
