Lorito signs on with NCAA Brown

Press Release

Veteran Knights forward Matt Lorito has been putting up points at a torrid clip for the past two seasons. Other teams in the Ontario Junior Hockey League have noticed- and so have the NCAA Brown Bears.

In less than two complete seasons, the nifty centre has accumulated 136 points in 87 games. That's good for second all-time in Villanova Knights scoring. He's scored 52 times and chipped in 84 assists over his two seasons with Villanova.

Next season, the 5-foot 9, 165 pound forward will be plying his trade with the Bears, after agreeing to attend the Ivy League school earlier this season.

"Matt Lorito is simply one of the most talented players I have seen at this level," said Knights head coach Steve Hodson when asked about Lorito. "Matt comes to the rink ready to work, which will serve him well as he prepares for his future at Brown. As a player with so much ability, Matt had a number of options related to his scholastic and hockey future."

Hodson feels Brown will be a good fit for the talented centre.

"Choosing Brown was an excellent choice and on behalf of the entire coaching staff, I would like to wish Matt well as he embarks on the next stage of his life," added the Villanova bench boss. "Matt will do well in whatever he does, both academically and athletically and I will be following him with keen interest as he moves through his collegiate career."

In addition to his scoring prowess, Lorito was chosen as the Knights' Player of the Month for October and December, earning a nomination as OJHL Player of the Month for those same periods.

The entire Villanova Knights organization would like to congratulate Matt, and wish him great success in all his future endeavors.
