USHL Honors - Week 16

The United States Hockey League today announced the weekly award winners for the 16th week of the 2010-11 USHL regular season.

Congratulations to forward Daniil Tarasov of the Indiana Ice, named CCM Offensive Player of the Week; defenseman Jacob MacDonald of the Waterloo Black Hawks, selected as CCM Defensive Player of the Week; and both Michael Shibrowski of the Des Moines Buccaneers and Stephon Williams of the Sioux Falls Stampede who shared honors as the Reebok USHL Goaltender of the Week.

Tarasov scored six points (3g, 3a) and posted a plus-four rating to help the Indiana Ice capture a pair of road victories during the weekend. The 19-year-old tallied five points (2g, 3a), including the game-winning goal in Saturday's 7-4 win at Tri-City. The five-point night equaled a USHL season high. Tarasov then scored his team-leading 16th goal of the season in Sunday's 5-1 victory at Omaha. It was the seventh consecutive road win for the Ice, setting a new team record. Tarasov is a native of Moscow, Russia and is playing in his first USHL season. He is currently third in the League with 16 goals and is 10th overall with 30 points (16g, 14a).

MacDonald tallied a point (1g, 3a) in all three games for the Black Hawks during the week and finished with a plus-two rating to lead the team to pair of victories. The defenseman assisted on the game-winning goal in Wednesday's 2-0 victory over Indiana, which snapped the six-game win streak for the Ice. MacDonald dished out an assist in Friday's 2-1 loss to Des Moines. To complete the week, the 17-year-old scored the game-winning goal and assisted on another in the 6-1 win over Chicago on Saturday. The Brighton, Michigan native is playing his second USHL season and is currently tied for third in scoring among USHL defensemen with 18 points (6g, 12a) in 28 games played.

Shibrowski allowed just two goals over two wins for the Buccaneers. He made 29 saves in the 2-1 victory over Waterloo on Friday. The 20-year-old then made 33 saves in the 4-1 win against Western Conference-leading Dubuque on Sunday. Shibrowski is a native of Edina, Minnesota and has won four of his last five starts, all of which have come on the road. His 14 victories are second most among USHL goaltenders this season

Williams also won both of his starts for the Stampede as the team extended its winning streak to four games. The 17-year-old made 34 saves in the 3-1 win vs. Tri-City on Wednesday. Williams then stopped 23 shots in Friday's 4-1 victory over Dubuque. The native of Fairbanks, Alaska has won each of his last four starts, allowing just one goal in three of those contests. He is playing his rookie season in the USHL and has won 11 games for the Stampede.
