Banville and Laflamme suspended

Press Release

The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Disciplinary Prefect, Raymond Bolduc, today suspended two players for separate incidents which occurred during yesterday’s games.

Acadie-Bathurst Titan right-winger Alec Jon Banville has been suspended two games for boarding.

Blainville-Boisbriand Armada left-winger Jean-Christophe Laflamme has been suspended for four games for a hit to the head. Here is the rationale which led to the decision in regards to Laflamme’s suspension:

- The player at fault was racing to the puck in order to dump it out by using the end boards.

- At the same moment, his opponent was also racing towards the puck to recuperate it.

- The player at fault hit his opponent and caught him on the head.

- The opponent was injured on the play.

- It is the first offence for Jean-Christophe Laflamme.

The decisions were rendered after reviewing the videotapes of the incidents, gathering the testimonies from the players and the organizations involved, reading the officials’ reports and consulting the independent committee in the matter of disciplinary sanctions.

Of note, the video of the incident implication Jean-Christophe Laflamme will be available in the next few days.
