OHL Top Performers for December

Press Release

Toronto, ON – The Ontario Hockey League today announced the top OHL Performers of the Month for December, 2011, including forward Charles Sarault of the Sarnia Sting, former Windsor Spitfires defenceman Adrian Robertson, rookie Connor Brown of the Erie Otters, and goaltender Franky Palazzese of the Kitchener Rangers.

OHL Player of the Month – Charles Sarault, Sarnia Sting
Charles Sarault led the OHL in scoring in December with 23 points in 11 games scoring five goals and 18 assists for the Sarnia Sting.  He recorded a point in nine of his 11 games and finished the month with a six-game point streak.   He also recorded an impressive eight multi-point games including a four-point game and four three-point games.  His best game was played on December 11 where he scored a goal and three assists as first star of a 4-2 win over the Peterborough Petes.
Sarault, a 19-year-old from Fournier, ON, is playing in his fourth OHL season and first with the Sting.  In 38 games played this season he is currently second in league scoring and has already established career-highs with 14 goals and 46 assists for 60 points.

OHL Defenceman of the Month – Adrian Robertson, Sarnia Sting
Adrian Robertson led all OHL defencemen in scoring in December with 11 points in 10 games scoring two goals and nine assists.  The brand new member of the Sarnia Sting played all 10 games last month as captain of the Windsor Spitfires where he recorded a point in eight contests including two multi-point games.  His top performance of the month was December 10 where he scored a goal and two assists as second star of a 6-5 overtime win over the Erie Otters.
Robertson, a 20-year-old from Mississauga, ON, is playing in his fourth full OHL season.  In 39 games played this season he is currently tied for second in defencemen scoring and has also set new career-highs in offensive categories including goals with nine and assists with 24 for 33 points.

Kal Tire OHL Rookie of the Month – Connor Brown, Erie Otters
Connor Brown led all OHL rookies in scoring with 10 points in December including six goals and four assists in 12 games for the Erie Otters.  He recorded a point in eight of his 12 games including two multi-point efforts.  He scored a goal and an assist on December 9 as part of a 7-3 win over the Sarnia Sting, and also tallied a goal and an assist on New Year’s Eve as third star despite a 5-3 loss to the Barrie Colts.
Brown, a 17-year-old from Etobicoke, ON, was selected by the Otters in the 13th round of the 2010 OHL Priority Selection.  He is currently third in rookie scoring with 14 goals and 12 assists for 26 points in 37 games.

Vaughn OHL Goaltender of the Month – Franky Palazzese, Kitchener Rangers
Franky Palazzese posted a 4-1-0-0 record in December with a goals-against-average of 1.58 and a league-high save percentage of .961 to help the Kitchener Rangers hold onto third place in the OHL’s Western Conference.  He was recognized as first star in four of his five games this past month including a 3-2 shootout win over the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds on December 16 where he made a season-high 46 saves.
Palazzese, an 18-year-old from Mississauga, ON, is playing in his second full OHL season and first with the Rangers.  In 16 games this season he carries a record of 11-4-1-0 with the fifth best goals-against-average at 2.41 and is tied for first among OHL goaltenders with a save percentage of .938.
