ROBERTSON TO SARNIA FOR PICKS

Press Release

With the trade deadline fast approaching, Spitfires GM Warren Rychel has made a move to acquire future assets.

This morning, Adrian Robertson has been dealt to the Sarnia Sting for a trio of draft picks - Sault Ste Marie's 3rd round pick in 2012, Sarnia's 2nd round pick in 2016 and Sarnia's 2nd round pick in 2017.

“Adrian was a class act on and off the ice,” said Rychel. “He represented himself and the team very professionally. I’d like to thank him for everything he’s done for the Spitfires organization. This should give him the opportunity for a long playoff run this season.”

Robertson, 20, was enjoying the best season of his junior career, serving as Spitfires captain. In 39 games, the 6'2, 210-pound Mississauga native is second among OHL defencemen with 9 goals and 24 assists with a +8 rating.

Acquired prior to the trade deadline from Peterborough last season, along with a second round pick in exchange for defenceman Steven Trojanovic, Robertson was a major force in our long 2010-2011 playoff run.

In 18 games, he had 3 goals and 12 assists for 15 points and a +7 rating.

Robertson joins another former Spitfires blueliner, Craig Duininck, in Sarnia.
