Shaw Dealt at the Deadline

Press Release

Sydney – The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles have traded forward Logan Shaw (1992-10-05) to the Quebec Remparts in exchange the Screaming Eagles receive defenseman Simon Desmarais (1993-03-24) and forward Raphael Corriveau (1994-05-12).

Shaw, 19, from Glace Bay, Nova Scotia was the Screaming Eagles 1st round selection 12th overall in the 2008 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League entry draft.

He has spent his entire career with the Screaming Eagles scoring 50 goals and adding 54 assists in 221 games. Shaw was drafted by the Florida Panthers in the 3rd round of the 2011 National Hockey League entry draft.

“It’s not easy trading a player like Logan, but I think he has a good chance to sign with Florida and we were able to get two good young players in return so I made the deal with Quebec,” Screaming Eagles General Manager Pierre Roux said following the end of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League trade period.

Desmarais, 17, was the Halifax Mooseheads 2nd round selection, 29th overall in the 2010 QMJHL midget entry draft.

He was traded at this year’s draft to Rouyn-Noranda and was dealt to Quebec on Friday. In 79 games in the QMJHL, the 6’1”, 194 lb. native of St.Jean, Quebec has scored two goals and added eight assists while accumulating 133 penalty minutes.

Corriveau, is a 17 year-old rookie from Levis, Quebec. The 6’4”, 180 lb. winger has two goals and two assists in 27 games with the Remparts.

Meanwhile, in another trade deadline deal the Screaming Eagles have acquired forward Michael Clarke (1993-05-20) from the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada in exchange for a 4th round pick in the 2012 QMJHL midget draft and a 6th round pick at the 2013 QMJHL midget entry draft.

Clarke is a Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia native and is in his second season in the QMJHL. In 75 games the 6’1”, 200 lb. winger has scored 11 goals and added 21 assists to go along with 19 penalty minutes.
