Press Release
CANALTA HOTELS SJHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Riley Storzuk, Flin Flon Bombers
1992 F Riley Storzuk (Wynyard SK) scored a couple of goals and set up
three others in three games played last week as the highly skilled
forward continues to keep himself relevant for a possible SJHL scoring
championship despite missing nine games due to injury. Storzuk scored
in overtime on Saturday night in a victory over Kindersley. He also had
three assists the previous night in Kindersley as he helped the Bombers
halt a four game losing streak. For the season, Storzuk has 13-goals
and 25-assists in 27-games played.
CANALTA HOTELS SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK
Logan Sproule, Humboldt Broncos
1993 D Logan Sproule (Saskatoon SK) picked up four assists in two games
played last week. Sproule has been identified by his coaching staff as
being the club’s MVP through the first half of the season. In the wake
of some serious injuries to the blueline, Sproule has stepped up, not
only offensively, but in a defensive and leadership role with the
Broncos. He has 5-goals and 14-assists in 32-games on the season.
CANALTA HOTELS SJHL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Brett Boehm, Flin Flon Bombers
1994 F Brett Boehm (Saskatoon SK) is one of those rare players who have
been able to step into the SJHL straight out of Midget AAA and make an
impact as one of the very best players in the entire league. Boehm
helped the Bombers stop a four game slide with a three point effort
Friday night in Kindersley. With 18-goals and 17-assists in 31-games
this season, Boehm is well on his way to being the SJHL Rookie Of The
Year, should he continue to stay healthy.
CANALTA HOTELS SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK
Matt Hrynkiw, Humboldt Broncos
1992 G Matt Hrynkiw (Saskatoon SK) was perfect last week, registering
back to back shutouts on the road (in Melville and in Battlefords) last
week, stopping a combined 58 shots in the process. Hrynkiw has,
quietly, had an outstanding season in which he has allowed more than
three goals in a game just once since October 6th. He hasn’t
allowed more than four goals in a game at all this year. Overall, he’s
16-and-8 with a 1.70-GAA, .940-SPCT, and five shutouts.
