Defenceman Blomqvist returns home

Press Release

Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes announced that veteran Defenceman Albin Blomqvist has returned home to Sweden.

The 6’3, 202 pound blueliner from Osby was injured in a game in early December and has since been placed on the 30 day injured list. Blomqvist returned home for the Christmas break and will remain in Sweden to recover from his concussion. The Hurricanes wish Albin the best in his recovery.

The Hurricanes selected Blomqvist in the first round (12th overall) in the 2011 CHL Import Draft and was a member of Sweden’s U-17 and U-18 National teams and also won a silver medal at the World Juniors. In his 69 games with the Hurricanes over the past two seasons, Blomqvist registered 6 points (1G, 5A) and 117 penalty minutes.
