Attack Acquire Ceci and Janes

Press Release

Owen Sound Attack General Manager, Dale DeGray has pulled off a blockbuster trade with the Ottawa 67’s acquiring defenseman Cody Ceci, forward Steven Janes and a 3rd Round Pick in 2015 for defenseman Jacob Middleton and forward Joseph Blandisi.

Ceci, a 1st Round Pick of the Ottawa Senators in 2012 is in his fourth Ontario Hockey League Season after being a first round pick of the 67’s in 2009. This season, the Orleans native has appeared in 42 games, tallying 11 goals and 29 assists for 40 points. The 6’03, 215lb rearguard has 146 points in 238 career games, all with Ottawa.

Janes, a 6’04, 205lb forward has also spent his entire OHL Career with the 67’s. The Etobicoke native has tallied 14 goals and 13 assists in 36 games played this season and has appeared in 170 OHL games over his career. Janes spent his Minor Midget as a teammate of Attack forward Daniel Catenacci with the York Simco Express Minor Midgets.

“We are ecstatic to add Cody and Steven to our line-up.”, stated General Manager Dale DeGray. “Cody is a premier defenseman in our league and will provide an immediate presence to our powerplay. Steven is the power forward that we have been looking for to help provide some size and scoring up front.”

The Attack part ways with defenseman Jacob Middleton, who was the Attack’s 8th overall pick in the 2012 OHL Priority Selection and Joseph Blandisi, who was drafted by the Attack in 2011 as a 17 year old, tallying 31 points in his rookie season last year. Blandisi was a 6th Round pick of the Colorado Avalanche in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

“Parting ways with players we have drafted always comes with mixed emotions.”, stated DeGray. “But in a situation like this, we had to give up some quality players to get quality in return and this trade provides both Jacob and Joseph the best chance to develop with more playing time.”

Ceci and Janes are expected to be in the lineup this Wednesday when the Attack visit Erie.

The Attack wish to thank Joseph and the Blandisi family as well as Jacob and the Middleton family for being a part of the Attack organization and wish both Joseph and Jacob nothing but the best in Ottawa.
