Blues Sign Edmundson and Veilleux

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced the club has signed defenseman Joel Edmundson and forward Yannick Veilleux to three-year entry level contracts.

Edmundson, 19, has appeared in 60 games between the Western Hockey League’s (WHL) Moose Jaw Warriors and Kamloops Blazers this season, combining for 25 points (9 goals and 16 assists) to go along with 133 penalty minutes.

Overall, the 6-foot-4, 200-pound defenseman has spent the past three seasons in the WHL, amassing 68 points (15 goals, 53 assists) and 319 penalty minutes in 187 games. The Brandon, Manitoba native was drafted by the Blues in the second round (46th overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft.

Veilleux, 20, has appeared in 58 games with the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s (QMJHL) Moncton Wildcats this season, recording 65 points (30 goals and 35 assists) to go along with 94 penalty minutes.

Overall, the 6-foot-2, 208-pound forward has spent the past four seasons in the QMJHL, totaling 180 points (79 goals, 101 assists) and 220 penalty minutes in 240 games. The Saint-Hippolyte, Quebec native was drafted by the Blues in the fourth round (102nd overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft.
