Clips captain comes through in the clutch, earns Gongshow POW

Nanaimo Clippers forward Trevor Fitzgerald has been named the Gongshow BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending March 17, the league announced Monday.

Fitzgerald helped his team get out to a 2-0 series lead in their Coastal Conference quarterfinal matchup against the Alberni Valley Bulldogs. In Game 2, the Nanaimo captain not only opened the scoring but also notched the overtime winner in a 3-2 victory.

The Vernon, B.C. native was in on each Clippers goal on the night as he also had an assist on Nichoals Gushue's second-period power play tally.
