USHL Honors - Week 25

Press Release

The United States Hockey League today announced the CCM and Reebok player awards for the 25th week of the 2012-13 USHL regular season.

Award winners include Austin Cangelosi of the Youngstown Phantoms, who has been named CCM Forward of the Week; Taylor Fleming from the Fargo Force, selected as CCM Defenseman of the Week; and Anderson Snair of the Indiana Ice, earning honors as Reebok Goaltender of the Week.

Austin Cangelosi, F, Youngstown Phantoms: The Estero, FL native had a monster week, tallying seven points (3g, 4a) to help the Phantoms earn three victories.  On Thursday in Dubuque, Cangelosi potted a second-period goal and tacked on two assists in the Phantoms’ 4-3 win over the Fighting Saints.  It was more of the same the next evening as the forward put together his second consecutive three-point performance (1g, 2a) in a 4-3 win over the Chicago Steel.  The 18-year-old showed no signs of fatigue in his third game in as many days as he netted his 17th goal of the season in Youngstown’s 4-1 win over the Muskegon Lumberjacks on Saturday.  The Boston College commit leads the Phantoms in scoring with 53 points (17g, 36a) and is currently riding a five-game point streak, scoring three goals and seven assists over that span.

Taylor Fleming, D, Fargo Force: The second-year defenseman scored four points (1g, 3a) while posting a plus-five rating over three games.  He tallied his 11th goal of the season plus dished out an assist in Tuesday’s 4-2 win over the Lincoln Stars.  His goal total is tied for third among all USHL defensemen.  Fleming also finished Tuesday’s game with a plus-two rating and was a part of a penalty killing unit that was a perfect 5-for-5.  On Friday, he recorded his third multi-point effort of the season with two assists in a 6-3 win over the Des Moines Buccaneers.  The 20-year-old was held scoreless on Saturday, but recorded a plus-one rating and helped stop both of the Bucs’ power plays, in a 3-2 shootout loss.  The Air Force Academy commit is second on the team in defenseman scoring with 27 points (11g, 16a) and has points in four of his last five games (2g, 4a).

Anderson Snair, G, Indiana Ice: The rookie netminder posted a 1-0-1 record with a 0.96 goals-against-average, and .963 save percentage in two games played for the Ice.  On Friday, he stopped all 22 shots he faced to earn the first shutout of his USHL career, leading Indiana’s 1-0 win over the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders.  He had another solid outing on Saturday turning aside 30 shots in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Chicago Steel.  It was the fourth time this season he has recorded 30-or-more saves in a game.  Snair has appeared in 14 games this season, earning starts in 12 of them.  The 18-year-old from Halifax, Nova Scotia has allowed three goals or fewer in 12 of his 14 games and has a 4-6-1 record, with a 3.23 GAA and .895 SV%.
