PORT HURON, MI – The
Port Huron Fighting Falcons, proud members of the North American Hockey
League, are pleased to announce that “The Voice of the Detroit Red
Wings” Karen Newman will sing the national anthem before their home game
against the Michigan Warriors Sunday, October 27 at 4 p.m. at McMorran
Arena.
A truly
made-in-Michigan star, Karen Newman has made the national anthem a
can’t-miss event at Detroit Red Wings home games for the better part of
the last decade. She has provided back-up vocals for iconic superstars
Bob Seger and Kid Rock, and has released four solo albums as well.
“We are
extremely excited to have Karen Newman perform the national anthem this
weekend,” said Fighting Falcons Director of Operations Mike Reed. “We’ve
always done our best to provide a great performance of the national
anthem at our home games, and I think that having Karen Newman here
makes Sunday’s game worth far-beyond the price of admission before the
puck even drops.”
As with
all Sunday and Wednesday home games, the Fighting Falcons will offer the
Family Four Pack for Sunday’s performance and matinee matchup. Fans can
get four tickets, four drinks and four hot dogs for just $34.
Representatives
from the “Taking a Shot at Breast Cancer” calendar are running a silent
auction for pink Fighting Falcons warm-up jerseys, which the team will
wear before the game. Sunday’s 50/50 raffle will also benefit the
charity group.
