Oshawa Generals and Blyth Academy announce partnership

Press Release

The Oshawa Generals President and Governor Rocco Tullio, announced today that the organization has chosen Blyth Academy as the exclusive educational partner for their school-aged players beginning in September 2014. Players will be attending Blyth Academy’s Whitby campus. The small classes and a personalized learning environment offered by Blyth Academy will ensure the Generals players reach their academic potential and prepare themselves for their futures. In addition Blyth Academy’s flexible timetable accommodates the players’ specific and rigorous training and game schedule, allowing the Generals to be successful both on and off the ice.

“We are excited by this opportunity to allow our players to focus on their schooling while developing their hockey skills both on and off the ice” says Oshawa Generals owner Rocco Tullio. “This schedule will allow our players to develop to their fullest potential.”

Further to this exciting evolution in merging academics and sports training excellence, the Oshawa Generals are also pleased to announce their partnership with Blyth Academy to launch the Oshawa Generals Hockey Academy (OGHA). This advanced sports training program for Grades 7 - 12 will merge academics powered by Blyth Academy and hockey training, both on and off the ice, by Oshawa Generals’ coaches. The OGHA offers students a unique chance to develop their hockey skills while learning in a specialized academic environment.

OGHA students will take part in a comprehensive on-ice and off ice training program during the school year, comprised of over 240 hours designed by Oshawa Generals OHL coaches, while attending full-time academic classes at Blyth Academy’s Whitby campus.

The Oshawa General Hockey Academy will officially open in September 2014.
