Express raises over $10K for breast cancer awareness

Press Release

Sporting pink jerseys that were auctioned off after its game against the Austin Bruins on Oct. 23, the Owatonna Express’ Breast Cancer Awareness Night raised $10,248.50.

And, before its game against the Bruins on Nov. 17, team president Bill Stewart and director of game operations and promotions Brooke Woitas presented a check for that amount, along with an Express jersey, to the American Cancer Society and the Owatonna Clinic.

“We were extremely pleased and honored to be part of such wonderful cause,” said Express head coach Chuck Linkenheld. “We’re very appreciative of all the contributors and the work that was done by (American Cancer Society representative) Wendy Bogen and the entire Owatonna Community.”

T-shirts were also sold during the Oct. 23 game and around Owatonna during the month of October. The Express raised 25 percent more for the initiative than the previous year and hopes the figure will continue to increase in future seasons.

“We’re proud to be a part of the cause and can’t wait to participate again next year,” Linkenheld added.
