JR Hurricanes Player Commits to College Program

Press Release

The Carolina Jr. Hurricanes are proud to announce that Charlie Pelnik, a member of the Jr. Hurricanes U16 AAA team, has committed to play college hockey at the University of North Dakota. This is the first Jr. Hurricanes player to commit to a college team.

Charlie has been offered a full scholarship to play hockey for the Fighting Sioux when he graduates. The Jr. Hurricanes player is currently only a sophomore but his combination of size, skill and grit have been attracting attention from plenty of scouts. It is rare for a university to commit to a player at such a young age, but Pelnik’s growth, combined with his physical attributes, have been enticing the coaches and scouts to recruit him since his freshman year.

Pelnik is a good team player; fearless on the ice and willing to stick up for his teammates. This is a great step and hopefully the first of many in his hockey career. From all of the staff here at the RYHA and Jr. Hurricanes: Congratulations to Charlie Pelnik for a great achievement and a terrific response to all of your hard work over the years.
