Weight downs Miller in Top Prospects opener

Team Weight (1-0) defeated Team Miller (0-1), 4-1, in the first game of the NAHL Top Prospects Tournament today at the Iorio Ice Arena in Walpole, Mass.

Defenseman Jack Callahan (Springfield Jr. Blues/Quinnipiac University) notched two goals in the victory, with forward Cory Ward (Aberdeen Wings) connecting for the game-winner.

Chris Bournazos (Owatonna Express) and Ben Persian (Owatonna/Air Force Academy) added the other Team Weight goals, while forward Ross Mauermann (Janesville Jets) potted Team Miller’s only marker.

Between the pipes, Team Weight’s Ryan Faragher (Bismarck Bobcats) stopped 17 of 18 shots, while Paul Moberg (Coulee Region Chill) turned aside all 13 shots he faced. Team Miller’s David Jacobson (Janesville) made 32 saves.

In the second game of the day, Team Legwand will face off against Team Rafalski at 7:30 p.m. local time.
