Cougars Hire Dan O'Connor For 2011-12 Broadcasts

Press Release

The Prince George Cougars are excited to announce Dan O’Connor will be the new “Voice of the Cougars”.

O’Connor takes over the title of Broadcasting and Corporate Sales for the Cougars after spending four seasons calling play by play for the Battlefords North Stars of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. O’Connor, a 26 year old product of Tsawwassen, BC, made his hockey broadcasting debut with the Dawson Creek Jr. Canucks of the North West Junior Hockey League in 2006.

"It's truly an honor to be joining the Prince George Cougars organization,” said O’Connor. “Being a Western Hockey League broadcaster has long been a dream of mine, and I can't wait to get started."

O’Connor will begin calling play by play for all Cougars regular season and playoff games on September 24, when the Cougars open the season in Kamloops against the Blazers. All Cougars games are broadcast live on 99.3 The Drive.

Dan and his fiancée, Julie, are moving to Prince George in August and O’Connor’s first day in the Cougars office is August 22.

“We look forward to Dan and Julie arriving in PG,” added Cougars Vice President Brandi Brodsky. “Dan has a great voice and I know he'll do a fantastic job for us.”
