Gilles Courteau of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League had this to say about the tournament,"The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League is always at the forefront of new ways to develop the sport. This is why we are very happy to be part of this first edition of the East Coast IceJam. The event will provide a tremendous platform for us to refine our recruiting in the Atlantic Provinces and better evaluate future players. We look forward to being part of this great initiative."

“The NSMMHL and the volunteer Tournament Committee have put a lot of hard work and time over the past few months to get this inaugural event up and running” according to Tournament Chairperson, Geoff Newton. He went on to say, “In addition to the 38 tournament games, we are currently finalizing the plans for a couple of different events that will take place during the Tournament that we believe the players, fans and scouts will enjoy.”
