CANALTA HOTELS PLAYERS OF THE WEEK DEC 2

Press Release

CANALTA HOTELS SJHL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Braden Oleksyn, La Ronge Ice Wolves

For the first time this season, one player has garnered two different weekly awards.  1996 F Braden Oleksyn (Saskatoon SK) had a four goal game on Friday night against Kindersley and finished the week with six goals in just two games played as he also picked up a brace on Tuesday against Melfort.  With the Ice Wolves signaling a youth movement, Oleksyn takes center stage.  The youngest player in the SJHL leads his team in scoring with 9-goals and 12-assists in 28-games.

SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK
Josh Roach, Flin Flon Bombers

1992 F Josh Roach (Saskatoon SK) is heating up again as he collected three points on Saturday in a win over Estevan to finish the week with two goals and two assists in three games played.  The SJHL’s most lethal offensive weapon on the blueline ups his overall totals to 7-goals and 24-assists in 28-games.  He has points in five of his last six games.

SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK
Alex Wakaluk, Melville Millionaires

1993 G Alex Wakaluk (Bellevue AB) had a minor hiccup during the early part of November; but he’s been a model of consistency between the pipes for the Millionaires, who have suffered through some sharp peaks and low valleys so far this season.  Wakaluk helped them get back on the winning track this week by posting a 1.50-GAA , 1-shutout, and a .963-SPCT.  Wakaluk, who leads the league in minutes played, is ranked third in GAA and SPCT overall on the year.
