Huberdeau suspended for 4 games

Press Release

The Director of Player Safety of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Raymond Bolduc, today announced that Saint John Sea Dogs forward, Jonathan Huberdeau is suspended for a total of 4 games. The suspension is described as follows:
  • 1 automatic game for having been the instigator of a fight during the 5 last minutes of regulation time when the difference in score was 2 goals or more.
  • 3 automatic games, following the application of rule 41, abuse towards an official (category 3). The rule specifies that a player cannot use physical force towards an official, solely for the purpose to break free during or immediately following an altercation.
The usual practice of the League is to suspend the player for his 4 next team games, regardless of injury or participation in games played outside the QMJHL such as in the National Hockey League or through international competition.

The Director of Player Safety took this decision after having viewed the video of the incident, considered the officials report, spoken to the Sea Dogs organization and consulted with his senior advisor, Sébastien Bordeleau.
