Jaskin, Bussières and Marcoux named the TELUS three stars of the month of November 2012

Press Release

Dmitri Jaskin, Raphaël Bussières and Étienne Marcoux were today named the TELUS three stars of the month of November 2012.

The Moncton Wildcats left-winger and 2nd round pick of the St-Louis Blues, Dmitri Jaskin, was selected as the first star in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. In 10 games, he totalled 25 points, including 9 goals (2 winning goals), a brilliant average of 2.5 points per game and a total of 7 games of 2 points or more. At the end of the month, he had a streak of 15 consecutive games with at least one point, which propelled him to 3rd place in the scoring standings with 45 points, just behind Josh Currie of the PEI Rocket and Nathan MacKinnon of the Halifax Mooseheads who both have 46.

During his past 13 games with the Baie-Comeau Drakkar, Raphaël Bussières scored 10 goals, totalling 23 points which earned him the second spot in this month’s stars. With 3 winning goals, he was one of the key elements of the team during their 15 consecutive winning streak in regulation time; equalling the 10 year-old team record. Bussières, a 2nd round pick of the Minnesota Wild during last June’s NHL draft, had a +/- of +11 during the last month and 2 points or more in six games. #28 of the Drakkar equalled the team’s record set by Charles Linglet (2001-02) of 8 consecutive games with at least one goal from November 9th to the 23rd.

Étienne Marcoux, the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada goaltender, with 6 wins and only 1 loss, an average of 1.89, and a save percentage of .917 is the 3rd star of the month. He also recorded his first shutout of the season and became the new record holder of the franchise (St. John’s/Montreal/Blainville-Boisbriand) set by Jean-François Bérubé (55), when he won his 56th game on the 30th of November against the Drakkar. On the last day of the month, Marcoux was in 1st place in the QMJHL standings in goals-against-average (2.00) and save percentage (.919).
