Knutson commits to Minnesota-State Mankato

Sioux Falls, SD—The Sioux Falls Stampede are proud to announce that forward Zeb Knutson has committed to play collegiate hockey at Minnesota State-Mankato. He becomes the 12th Stampede player to commit to a Division I program this season.
Knutson is in his first season with the Stampede. He became the first ever Sioux Falls native to be drafted and skate for a USHL team when he was drafted by the Stampede in third round of the 2012 USHL Draft.
The winger has 14 points (9g, 5a) in 19 games with the Herd this season. His nine goals are third most on the Stampede roster. He has 10 points (7g, 3a) and 35 shots in his last 10 games.
Last season, Knutson skated with Russell Stover of the Midget Major Tier I league and recorded 63 points (29g, 34a) in 39 games, second in all of Tier I hockey.
Minnesota State-Mankato is located in Mankato, Minn. and has an enrollment of 15,000 students. The Mavericks are members of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) and have won four straight games behind former Stampede goaltender Stephon Williams. Minnesota State is led by head coach Mike Hastings, a former head coach of the Omaha Lancers. He is the USHL’s all-time winngest coach with over 500 career wins.
