Press Release
Mississauga, ON - The Mississauga
Steelheads are pleased to announce that they will be holding their
annual Teddy Bear Toss presented by Canadian Tire on Sunday December 2nd,
when they take on the London Knights at 2:00pm at the Hershey Centre.
After the Steelheads first goal, all bears tossed onto the ice will be
donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Peel Region. Proceeds from the
sale of the bears will be donated to Sleeping Children Around the World,
who will be in attendance selling the bears along the concourse. As the
sponsor of the event Canadian Tire stores have generously donated 1,500
bears for Sunday’s game.
Teddy Bears will be on sale from the time the gates open at 1:00pm
until the Steelheads score their first goal. Bears can be purchased for a
suggested donation of $3.00 and $5.00 for 2. Volunteers from Sleeping
Children Around the World will be selling the bears with all proceeds
going towards building beds for children in underdeveloped countries, as
well as buying mosquito nets to protect children from malaria.
At the same time, the Teddy Bear Toss provides local support with all
of the tossed bears being donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Peel
Region to be distributed to children in need.
The Steelheads, Sleeping Children Around the World, and the Boys and
Girls Club of Peel Region are thankful to have the support of our local
Canadian Tire stores, and are looking forward to another successful
campaign this year.
