Press Release
CORPUS
CHRISTI, TX – After taking down the Amarillo Bulls yesterday 3-2,
Corpus Christi has announced that (F) Roman Uchyn will lace up the
skates for the Des Moines Buccaneers in the USHL while Trevor Heuser
returns to the IceRays from his three game stint with the Bucs’.
“Roman
drew a lot of attention early in the season and has developed well of
late,” said head coach Justin Quenneville. “When he plays his style as
a power forward, he has the ability to play at any level.”
In
22 games with the IceRays, the Elgin, IL native scored four goals, and
assisted three others while leading the team in PIM’s with 88min.
“This
is a great opportunity for Roman,” Quenneville added. “As much as we
would like him in the lineup this month, we won't hold players back and
we will continue to provide these opportunities to our players.”
Heuser
played two games for Des Moines this past weekend and finished with a
+1 rating in a 5-1 win on Friday, and a 5-2 on Saturday over Sioux City
while recording 2PIM’s.
“Playing
two games in Des Moines this weekend was a great experience,” said
Heuser. “It was a good opportunity to get a little taste of the USHL.
The team and organization as a whole was very professional and welcoming
of me.”
On the year for the IceRays, Heuser has suited up for 13 games, picking up three assists.
Quenneville
spoke highly about the return of the young defender. “Trevor is
excited to be back with the team, but thankful for the opportunity to
play a couple games in Des Moines. The Bucs’ staff had nothing but
positive feedback and we look forward to getting Trevor back on the
ice.”
