Press Release
Today, the United States Hockey League announced the CCM and Reebok
player awards for the eleventh week of the 2012-13 USHL regular season.
Award winners include Kyle Osterberg of the Omaha Lancers, named the CCM Forward of the Week; Matias Cleland of the Omaha Lancers, selected as CCM Defenseman of the Week; and Charlie Lindgren of the Sioux Falls Stampede, who earned honors as Reebok Goaltender of the Week.
Kyle Osterberg, F, Omaha Lancers: Osterberg
registered four points this weekend (3g, 1a) including the game-winner
in both of the Lancers’ victories. On Friday night, the Lakeville, MN
native would strike twice in a 4-3 win over Team USA. He netted a
powerplay marker to give Omaha a 3-1 lead at 15:50 of the first period.
He would then go on to score the fourth and decisive goal roughly four
minutes into the third. Osterberg also tallied an assist in Friday’s
contest to tie a USHL career high, with three points in a single game.
His hot hand would continue, as he lit the lamp again in Saturday
night’s 4-3 win over the Lincoln Stars. That was his second game-winning
goal and second powerplay goal of the weekend. His three goals over the
weekend puts him in a four-way tie for second place on the team with
six.
Matias Cleland, D, Omaha Lancers: Cleland tallied four
assists this past weekend, and notched the primary assist on both
game-winning goals for the Lancers. On Friday night, Cleland handed out a
couple of helpers on the way to a 4-3 victory over Team USA. The
Longmont, CO native dished out a pair of assists on the powerplay
Saturday to help his team to a second consecutive 4-3 win, this time
over the Lincoln Stars. Cleland’s four assists moves him into second
place on the team in points and he is tied for second overall in the
USHL in defenseman scoring with 16 (4g, 12a). He has multi-point efforts
in three of his last five games.
Charlie Lindgren, G, Sioux Falls Stampede: Lindgren
backstopped the Stampede to a pair of wins this weekend. Lindgren
pitched a shutout on Friday, stopping all 41 shots he saw in a 2-0 win
over Tri-City. On Sunday, he turned aside 21-of-22 shots to help the
Stampede to a 3-1 victory over Sioux City. The Lakeville, MN native was
2-0-0 with a 0.50 goals against average and a .984 save percentage. His
weekend performance now ranks him in the top five in the USHL in both
shutouts (2) and goals against average (2.39), and he is seventh in save
percentage (.915).
