Bennett tabbed as BCHL Player of the Week

Press Release

Penticton Vees forward Beau Bennett has been named the British Columbia Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending January 24th, the league announced Monday.

Bennett helped his team to a perfect record on a three-game Northern road swing, scoring once and adding seven assists. He kicked off the week in Williams Lake, where he scored and added three helpers in an 8-1 victory over the Timberwolves. Two nights later he contributed a trio of assists in a 6-3 triumph over the Prince George Spruce Kings, and he closed out the trip with a helper in a 3-2 win in Quesnel.

Over the course of his current eight-game point streak that began on January 5th, Bennett has picked up six goals and 16 assists. In his first BCHL season he trails only teammate Denver Manderson and Salmon Arm SilverBacks forward Mark Zengerle amongst the league's scoring leaders.

Honourable mentions for this week's award included Manderson, Cowichan Valley netminder Alexandre Peck, Trail forward Sam Mellor and Prince George captain Sam Muchalla.

Bennett and the Vees are back in action on Wednesday when they host the Powell River Kings at the South Okanagan Events Centre.
