Vees' Manderson named BCHL Player of the Week

Press Release

Penticton Vees forward Denver Manderson has been named the British Columbia Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending January 10th, the league announced Monday.

Manderson scored four goals and added nine assists last week, leading his team to five of a possible six points in games against Trail, Quesnel and Williams Lake. On Tuesday, the 20-year old assisted on a pair of power-play markers in a 5-4 overtime loss to the Smoke Eaters.

He then exploded for 11 points in two weekend games, first scoring twice and adding a pair of helpers in an 8-0 victory over the Timberwolves. He closed out the week by contributing on each of his team's scoring plays (two goals, five assists) in a 7-3 win over the Millionaires.

Following last week's offensive surge, Manderson now tops the BCHL's scoring charts with 96 points from 43 games.

Honourable mentions for the Player of the Week award were Alberni Valley's Mitch MacMillan, Penticton's Beau Bennett, Vernon's Connor Jones and Victoria's Jordan Heywood.
