Devos and Chouinard win TELUS Player of the Week Awards

BOUCHERVILLE, Monday, January 11, 2010 – Forward Philip-Michaël Devos and defenseman Joël Chouinard, two members of the Victoriaville Tigres, today were named the TELUS offensive and defensive players of the week for the period extending from January 4 to 10.

Devos registered four goals and five assists while posting a +6 rating in three games. Moreover, he scored a game-winner. The Tigres’ forward was solid in the face-off circle, winning 57.4% of his draws. The native of Sorel-Tracy had his best game of the week on Wednesday, collecting five points in a 7-3 victory over the Titan.

Randy Cameron (Wildcats), Nicholas Chouinard (Junior) and Nicolas Deschamps (Wildcats) were also considered.

On the defensive end, Joël Chouinard is the award-winner after collecting two goals and five assists in three Victoriaville wins. Furthermore, he posted a +6 rating. Chouinard was consistent throughout the week, registering points in all three games while helping the Tigres remain perfect in shorthanded situations (15/15). He is third in scoring among QMJHL defenseman.

Nicola Riopel (Wildcats), Nicholas Champion (Huskies) and Brandon Gormley (Wildcats) were also considered.
