13 BCHL teams set to begin exhibition schedules with weekend action

Press Release

A full 144 days after the Vernon Vipers captured the 2010 Fred Page Cup, the British Columbia Hockey is once again ready for action.

This weekend serves as the first opportunity for hundreds of Junior A hopefuls to vie for spots with one of the league's 16 teams. For others, the beginning of the exhibition season serves as a chance to begin the climb towards the top of the depth chart or hold on to a position that was earned a season ago.

13 BCHL teams are in action on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, while three others -- Alberni Valley, Prince George and Quesnel -- have training camps in full swing and will face preseason opposition for the first time on Tuesday.

A pair of B.C. communities will play host to neutral site exhibition match-ups as the Powell River Kings and Coquitlam Express meet in Gibsons while the Vernon Vipers and Trail Smoke Eaters play a pair of contests in Chase.
