Attack Deal for Overage Forward

Press Release

The Owen Sound Attack Hockey Club is pleased to announce they have acquired overage forward Liam Heelis from the Peterborough Petes in exchange for the Attack’s 4th round draft choice in 2012.

Heelis, a 6’0, 190 lb. Georgetown, ON. native played his third season with the Peterborough Petes last year, notching 18 goals and 13 assists to go along with 95 Penalty Minutes. “This puts us in a very strong position going into camp,” said Attack General Manager Dale DeGray. “We have four very quality overagers on our roster and that is a great position to be in heading into training camp. Liam will provide some scoring, toughness and leadership to our lineup.”

This leaves the Attack with four overagers on their current roster. Robby Mignardi, Matt Stanisz, Liam Heelis and Jason Wilson, who was drafted by the New York Rangers this past NHL Entry Draft are all potential overagers for the upcoming season. Wilson’s status for the 2010/2011 season will not be known until later September, which prompted Attack G.M. DeGray to make the move. “We certainly didn’t want to be in the same position as last season, leaving a hole open. If Jason doesn’t return, that is great for him and we will still have three quality overagers. If he does return then that is something we will have to deal with as an organization at that time.”
