Bandits add a coach

Brooks, Alberta, August 12, 2010 – The Brooks Bandits are pleased to announce the additions of Bryan Dube and Nicholas Degaetano to the Coaching Staff.

Bryan is originally from Montreal, Quebec and will assume the Assistant Coaching duties along with taking on the Strength & Conditioning responsibilities for the club. As a player Bryan spent 3 seasons in the QMJHL most notably with Chicoutimi and Acadie Bathurst racking up 571 penalty minutes in 140 games. When it comes to coaching Bryan has spent time at the Junior B and Junior A levels with the Comox Valley Glaicer Kings and the Quinte Westpack respectively.

Assistant Coach/Strength & Conditioning Coach Bryan Dube – “I am very happy to join the Brooks Bandits organization. I am looking forward to the upcoming season and developing these young athletes and helping them achieve their goals as hockey players. I’m hoping to give back to the organization what I’ve learned as a player and Coach over the past years. I’m looking forward to working with Ryan Papaioannou and making the ‘10-11 season a successful one. With Training Camp less than a week away I’m excited for the transition to the Brooks community”

Nicholas comes to the Bandits as a Goaltending Consultant. He spent last year working with the team in an unofficial role and after a successful season in goal by Jan Obernesser, Nicholas now officially joins the staff. Originally from Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, Nicholas moved to Calgary and is a now the Head On Ice Instructor at the Goaltender Development Institute (GDI).

Goaltending Consultant Nicholas Degaetano – “I am excited to join the Brooks Bandits for the 2010/2011 season and looking forward to the continued development and identification of goaltenders for our program.”

Head Coach/GM Ryan Papaioannou – “We spent the off season looking for ways to improve our club and early on the decision was to surround the players with quality people that have passion for the game. With both Bryan and Nicholas I know we are in a position to provide our players with an opportunity to learn and develop. With these additions we are ready for the start of Training Camp and looking forward to the 11th season of Brooks Bandits Hockey.”
