Pats Add Experience to Scouting Staff

Regina, Saskatchewan –Regina Pats General Manager, Chad Lang is proud to announce the creation and filling of a new position to Head Scout, Todd Ripplinger’s scouting staff. The new position of “Travelling Scout” will be filled by long time WHL insider, Russ Kutzak.

Russ has been involved in Western Hockey League scouting over the past 11 years with both the Moose Jaw Warriors and Saskatoon Blades.

With the Warriors, he helped build them into a WHL Eastern Conference Champion by identifying and helping draft the likes of: Dustin Boyd, Troy Brouwer, Tyler Johnson, Ashton Rome and Kyle Brodziak. Over the past 5 seasons with the Saskatoon Blades scouting staff, Russ helped bring in: Josh Nicholls, Duncan Siemens, Dalton Thrower and Charles Inglis.

“It was a very tough decision to leave the Blades organization, but I look forward to joining a good team, a team with great ownership, management, coaches and scouting staff,” says Pats Travelling Scout, Russ Kutzak, “I look forward to a new position and a new challenge.”

“I am extremely excited to have Russ join our organization. I had the great fortune to work with him in Moose Jaw. He as a great eye for identify and evaluation prospects and will be a welcome addition to our scouting staff. Russ is well respected in the hockey community,” says Regina Pats General Manager, Chad Lang, “His individual character, work ethic and experience, makes him a perfect fit for our organization and will play a big part in helping identify future prospects to ensure we build a strong foundation for year to come. On behalf of the entire organization I would like to welcome Russ along with his wife Donna to the Pats organization.”

Russ will join the club immediately and will be in Regina in time for the beginning of training camp next Saturday at the Co-Operators Centre.
