GNML Top Scorer Brody Silk Commits to Sudbury Wolves

Press Release

The Sudbury Wolves are pleased to announce the signing of 2nd round selection, 26th overall, BRODY SILK. SILK, 15, stands 6’, 175 lbs and was the leading scorer in the GREAT NORTH MIDGET LEAGUE this season. SILK from Iroquois Falls, played for the New Liskeard Cubs of the GNML and is regarded as one of the top players from the North in some time.

SILK was rated as a top 10 players by OHL Central Scouting but slipped to the second round of the OHL draft due to injuries that prevented Silk from playing in the OHL CUP. The Wolves were quick to draft SILK when he was still there with the Wolves’ first selection of the second round.

“I am extremely pleased to sign on with the Sudbury Wolves” notes Silk. “It was always my dream to play for the Sudbury Wolves. Sudbury is close to home and they have a team that is need of offensive players. I can hardly wait for training camp to arrive so I can begin my OHL career with the Wolves.” Silk is the son of Dennis Silk, a former 2nd round pick of the Wolves back in the ‘70’s.

“We are very proud to sign Brody as a member of the Sudbury Wolves” notes Wolves’ GM Blaine Smith. “Brody is an outstanding offensive player that can score and set-up goals. Brody is a great leader and loves to control the puck. There is no doubt that we acquired two top 10 players in the draft with Brody Silk and Mathew Campagna.”

Silk and Campagna both participated in the final TEAM ONTARIO UNDER 17 CAMP in Oshawa earlier in July.

“Playing in the GNML really helped as I played against older, bigger and stronger players all season long” notes Silk. “I am confident that I can step in and contribute offensively – especially on the power play.”
