Cody DePourcq commits to Denver

Press Release sent to the World of Junior Hockey

Penticton, BC- The Penticton Vees Hockey Club is pleased to announce that Cody DePourcq has committed to the University of Denver Pioneers.

DePourcq, 16, joins Beau Bennett and Joey Laleggia as recent Vees who have suited up for the Pioneers. The Penticton native is in his first season with the Vees, recording three goals and 11 points in 23 games. Last season DePourcq recorded 23 goals and 47 points with the Okanagan Hockey Academy Midget team.

“The Pioneers are getting one of the most courageous players I've ever coached.  I have had the pleasure of being involved with the development of Cody Depourcq over the past few seasons.  Cody started as an AP player in his 15 year old season and is now contributing to our strong start as one of the most exciting 16yr olds in the BCHL.” Commented Head Coach & GM Fred Harbinson

Cody’s blood-lines run deep with the Vees; his father John, spent four years with the Penticton Knights in the mid 80’s, including winning aNational Championship in 1986.

The 5’5 forward plays well above his stature, playing in a prominent role, and is developing a quick reputation as one of the hardest working forwards in the BCHL.

Denver plays in the Western Colligate Hockey Association (WCHA) and has won seven WCHA Conference and NCAA Championships; the most recent in 2005.
