Rocket add Venne to Line-up

Press Release

The PEI Rocket have made a move in keeping with their plan of rebuilding and developing young players this year. The Rocket, who have been competing hard most nights with 6 – 1 goal losses and 7 – 2 goal losses, have called up 16 year old Antoine Venne, from the St. Eustache Vikings, of the Quebec Midget AAA Hockey League. Venne was a late cut from the Rocket training camp this year after being drafted in the 7th round of the 2011 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Entry draft. Upon returning to his midget team, he has lead his team as captain and in scoring with 14 goals and 13 assists in 23 games, which has had him in the top 10 in league scoring consistently since his season began.

Rocket President and Governor, Serge Savard Jr, says “We are almost at the midway point of our season and we have been assessing what we have here on our current roster as well as other kids we have in our system playing elsewhere for quite some time now. Antoine Venne is a player we feel can step into our line-up now to help this team while he develops as a Major Junior player. Although we would obviously like to have more wins on the board, we are happy with the development of our young guys within the organization and we are looking forward to what the future holds.”

The Rocket plan to announce another roster move later this week.
