Sean Maguire Commits to Boston University

Press Release

The Kings are proud to announce that Sean Maguire has committed to Boston University. As a homegrown Powell River talent for the Kings, Sean will be attending Boston University in September of 2012.

Maguire joined the green and gold at the beginning of the 2010-2011 season. Wearing number 35, Sean consistently improved and developed as a goaltender over the course of the past 2 seasons. His most recent highlight was winning gold at the World Junior ‘A’ Challenge in Langley and earning the title of ‘Goaltender of the Tournament’.

Kings' head coach and general manager Kent Lewis is proud of Maguire saying, "This year he has proven to be one of the elite goaltenders and he was showcased among the top goaltenders his age in the world at the WJAC. Sean’s strengths are his character, his willingness to compete and athleticism. Boston University is an excellent school academically and has one of the best hockey programs in the NCAA. We are very proud of Sean for this great achievement.”

Maguire says he chose the Boston University Terriers for a number of reasons. “I choose Boston University because I always wanted to go to school in Boston and Boston University definitely has the best program in the area,” Sean notes. “The hockey team has top-notch facilities, the coaching staff is incredible and I have heard nothing but amazing things about the program.”

Sean will be pursuing a degree in Education with hopes to one day work as a teacher one day.

Congratulations Sean on this great achievement!
