Eric Szymczyk of the Dryden Ice Dogs named Sportop performer of the month

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Thursday that Dryden Ice Dogs goaltender Eric Szymczyk has been named Sportop performer of the month for November.
In 10 official appearances last month the 20-year-old Toronto native posted an 8-2 overall record while registering a solid 1.80 goals-against average along with an impressive .947 save percentage.
The Ice Dogs netminder currently leads all SIJHL goalkeepers in wins with 13.
Szymczyk also top all puck stoppers in the league in minutes played, shots faced and saves at 1,229:45, 702 and 634 respectively.
He also becomes the first member of the Ice Dogs to garner Sportop performer of the month laurels since goaltender Ian Perrier accomplished the feat in November of 2010.
Szymczyk will be recognized at a future game and presented with a gift pack courtesy of Sportop Marketing Inc.
Honourable mention for the Sportop performer of the month award for October went to the following: JoJo Jeanetta, (G) Minnesota Wilderness; Jordan Christianson, (F) Fort Frances Lakers;) Jonathon Losurdo, (F) Minnesota Iron Rangers; Ian Reffert, (F) Duluth Clydesdales and Matt Kaarela, (F) Thunder Bay North Stars.
