AJHL announces Players of the Week

 CHESTERFIELD, VA. - The Atlantic Junior Hockey League (AJHL) has announced that New Jersey Rockets forward Brooks Lewis (left), New York Bobcats defenseman Joe Rassett (middle) and Walpole Express goaltender Kyle Shapiro have been named the Offensive, Defensive and Goaltender of the Week, respectively, for the last week of the regular season.

Lewis, from Hummelstown, Pa., struck for three goals and two assists as the Rockets forged a 2-0 record. On Sunday, the 1993-born notched two goals in a 3-1 victory over the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers. Two days later, the 5-foot-9, 175-pounder connected for the game-winning marker and a pair of assists as the Rockets downed the Connecticut Wolfpack, 5-4.

Rassett, a Bradenton, Fla., native, tallied four assists as the Bobcats finished the regular season with a 2-1-1 record. On Wednesday, Feb. 20, the 1992-born picked up a pair of assists in an 8-4 loss to the Northern Cyclones. After being held scoreless two days later - a 5-1 victory over the New Jersey Titans - the 5-foot-11, 175-pounder picked up an assist in a 5-2 win over the Titans on Saturday. Rassett added another helper to his totals in a 1-1 tie with the Express on Monday.

Shapiro, from Ocean, N.J., forged a 2-1-2 record in five appearances, turning aside 141 of 152 shots. On Tuesday, Feb. 19, the 1993-born made 31 saves in a 3-2 loss to the Laconia Leafs. The next day, the 6-foot, 167-pounder stopped 30 shots as the Express bested the Wolfpack, 7-3. Shapiro then backstopped Walpole to back-to-back ties - 3-3 against the Jr. Flyers on Friday (26 saves) and 1-1 versus the Bobcats on Monday (30) - before steering aside 24 shots in a 4-1 triumph over the Bobcats on Tuesday.
