MICHALKE JOINS STORM COACHING STAFF

Press Release

KEARNEY, Neb. – With the stretch run and the final months of the season approaching, the Tri-City Storm have added current Air Force forward George Michalke to their staff as an assistant coach.

Michalke, who is a junior English major at the United States Air Force Academy, sustained an injury earlier this season and is on medical leave from the university for the remainder of the season.

In his career with the Falcons, he has combined to score eight goals and 12 assists in 70 games.

Storm head coach and general manager Josh Hauge said that Michalke’s primary role will be to help review video.

“George will come in and learn the ropes on how we do things here,” Hauge said. “He will also be another liaison between our players and staff. It will be nice to have a voice on the staff of a current college student for our players to communicate with.”

The 23-year-old is a native of Parma, Ohio, and played for Hauge while he was the head coach for the Fairbanks Ice Dogs of the NAHL. Michalke also played in the USHL for both the Ohio Junior Blue Jackets and the Sioux Falls Stampede from 2007-10.
