Press Release
The Advantage is proud and excited to share in the announcement that Midget Minor/U16 defenseman Ben DiMaio has committed to Dartmouth College for the 2015 season. Dartmouth is currently ranked 17th nationally and is tied for 3rd place in the competitive ECAC.
"This
is an exciting time for me and my family" noted Ben. "Im excited to
have the opportunity to play Division I college hockey while receiving
an IVY League education." Ben joins former Advantage stars Kyle
Nickerson and Connor Dempsey to the Dartmouth Campus. The
6'1" defenseman is a good skater who has a good skill set that provides
good rush offense when he has the chance but has a solid overall smart
defensive game. He can play in all situations.
Ben's Head Coach,
Jimmy Russo, feels strongly that "Dartmouth got it right. He is a
great kid, very strong student and is developing into a very good
skating defender with some offensive jump."
Ben has been
attending Lovell's Hockey Schools over the summers for the past 4 years
or so. He first started playing for the Advantage's U14 program, then
played split season midgets and then joined the Midget Minor team this
summer. Ben helped his squad to an 8th overall seed in the T1EHL
playoff showcase whiling winning the East Region.
"I've had
good people, good hockey people like Jimmy Russo and Tim Lovell teaching
me the past few years. Joe Lovell and Joe Bracken have also been
extremely instrumental in putting me in this position. Its been a great
experience with these guys and happy to have called the Advantage and
Lovells hockey my second home for a few years now."
Ben will more
than likely be back with the Midget Major team next season and then
play juniors where its best for him. "Right now I am concentrating on
helping my team compete in the playoffs. I'm confident verything else
will fall into place."
