Toronto, ON – The Ontario
Hockey League is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Joe Birch
to the league office in the role of Senior Director of Hockey
Development and Special Events.
Effective immediately, Birch will be responsible for overseeing the new league initiatives in Hockey Development, the execution of league special events, as well as working closely with Director of Recruitment and Education Services Kyle Raftis, and Director of Central Scouting Darrell Woodley.
“I am very excited and looking forward to the new opportunity and challenge as the Senior Director of Hockey Development and Special Events,” said Birch. “I look forward to working closely with all teams in the areas of development and special events. The OHL is the premier development league in the world and I am excited to be able to contribute to the league."
Birch previously spent six years as the OHL’s Director of Recruitment and Education Services before joining Newport Sports Management Inc in October 2011.
The 2013 OHL Cup Showcase Tournament takes place March 12-17 at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga, ON, followed by the OHL Combine March 22-24 featuring many of the top minor midget prospects. The 2013 OHL Priority Selection takes place on Saturday April 6.
