Hull Brothers to Attend Gordie Howe's 85th Birthday Celebrations

Press Release

The Vancouver Giants announced today the final two Special Guests who will be in attendance for Gordie Howe's 85th Birthday Celebration game on Friday March 1. They are none-other than legendary NHL brother act, Bobby and Dennis Hull.

Bobby Hull, a member of the 1983 Hockey Hall of Fame Inductees, wore the number 9 for most of his National Hockey League career as a tribute to his childhood idol, Gordie Howe. Bobby played most of his career for the Chicago Blackhawks and Winnipeg Jets, and in 14 seasons with the Blackhawks, between 1957 and 1970, Hull played against Howe and the Detroit Red Wings. Bobby got a chance to play alongside Howe after a trade that brought him to the Hartford Whalers in 1979.

Dennis Hull, who was selected to 6 NHL All-Star games, played 13 seasons for the Chicago Blackhawks, 6 of which he played against Howe and the Detroit Red Wings, between 1965 and 1970.

Bobby and Dennis Hull will join Marcel Dionne, Orland Kurtenbach, and Johnny Bower on March 1 for a special pre-game ceremony to celebrate Gordie Howe's 85th birthday, plus 500 randomly selected fans will get to meet Gordie Howe & the Legends during the game.

The team will also honour "Mr. Hockey" during Gordie Howe Week, by wearing special Gordie Howe tribute jerseys for their home games against the Kamloops Blazers on February 22, the Seattle Thunderbirds on February 24, and on Gordie Howe's 85th Birthday Celebration game against the Lethbridge Hurricanes on March 1. The special tribute jerseys will be unveiled on Wednesday February 20
