MJHL Keegan Cup Play-In Round Begins Tonight

Press Release

HAWTHORNE, NJ – The Metropolitan Junior Hockey League’s Keegan Cup Playoffs are set to begin this evening with two of the three divisional round play-in games.  In the 2011-2012 season, the MJHL added this round to its playoff format to increase the number of teams that had a chance to vie for the Keegan Cup.

In the first match-up, the Philadelphia Junior Flyers will travel to Flemington, New Jersey to face-off with the New Jersey Renegades at 7:00pm.  The Renegades won the season series 4-1 and will look to continue that momentum tonight.  The winner of tonight’s game advances to the divisional semi-final matchup with the Dowd Division Champion, Richmond Generals.

In game number two this evening, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights travel to Brooklyn, New York to face-off with the Metro Moose at 7:50pm.  The Moose and the Knights just split a pair of one goal games this past weekend.  The victory on Sunday by the Moose gave them a 3-2 advantage in the season series.  The winner of tonight’s game advances to take on the Long Island Royals, the back-to-back Mullen Division regular season champions.

In the final play-in game, the Walpole Express will travel to Cranston, Rhode Island to face-off with the Cranston Reds at 6:30pm on Wednesday, the 27th.  By virtue of their 5-3 victory this past weekend, the Reds won the season series 3-2.  The winner of tomorrow night’s matchup will advance to take on the Francis Division’s regular season champion, the Boston Junior Ranges in the division semifinal round.

All three games are available on Fast Hockey.
