67’s’ Tyler Toffoli Named CHL Player of the Week

Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that forward Tyler Toffoli of the Ottawa 67’s is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending November 22. Toffoli scored four goals and four assists for eight points in three games with a plus-minus rating of plus-2.

Toffoli helped the 67’s win all three games on the week beginning last Wednesday night when he scored a goal and an assist as second star of a 3-2 shootout win over the Belleville Bulls. Two nights later he was rewarded with first star of the game honours scoring a goal and an assist Friday for the second straight game in a 4-3 comeback win over the Plymouth Whalers. He finished the week with his first career four-point game scoring two goals including the game-winner and the insurance marker plus two assists as first star of a 6-3 win over the Kitchener Rangers.

Toffoli, a 17-year-old from Scarborough, ON, is playing in his second OHL season with the 67’s. He has 11 goals and 12 assists for 23 points in 22 games and also scored two goals in two games as a member of Team OHL in the 2009 SUBWAY® Super Series. Toffoli is eligible for the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

Also considered this week was Ryan Howse of the WHL’s Chilliwack Bruins and Nicolas Deschamps of the QMJHL’s Chicoutimi Saguenéens. Both forwards scored three goals and four assists for seven points in three games. Howse had his best game of the week Friday with two goals and an assist as first star of a 6-4 win over the Portland Winterhawks, while Deschamps’ week was highlighted by a three-point game on Sunday with a shorthanded goal and two assists in a 6-5 overtime loss to the PEI Rocket.
