Telus Players of the Week

BOUCHERVILLE, Monday, November 9, 2009 – Montreal Juniors forward Trevor Parkes and Halifax Mooseheads goaltender Mathieu Corbeil-Thériault today were named the TELUS offensive and defensive players of the week for the period extending from November 2 to 8.

Parkes registered five goals, including a game-winner, and added two helpers in three games. Moreover, he had a hand in seven of the Juniors' thirteen goals this week and posted an excellent +6 rating. Parkes enjoyed his best game of the week on Wednesday, recording a hat-trick in a 5-4 loss at the hands of the Lewiston MAINEiacs. The Juniors have won their last two games and sit third in the TELUS Western Division standings.

Petr Straka (Océanic), Jacob Lagacé (Saguenéens) and Francis Meilleur (Screaming Eagles) were also considered.

On defence, Mathieu Corbeil-Thériault gets the nod. In three starts, the Mooseheads’ goaltender collected two wins while posting a 1.67 goals-against-average and .945 save percentage. Corbeil-Thériault saw an average of 30 shots per game during the three-game span. He was either named a first (2) or a second (1) star in every game.

Kevin Poulin (Tigres), Matthew Dopud (Océanic) and Benjamin Lecomte (Sea Dogs) were also considered.
