Telus Players of the Week

BOUCHERVILLE, Monday, November 23, 2009 – Chicoutimi Saguenéens forward Nicolas Deschamps and Baie-Comeau Drakkar goaltender Nathan Dunnett today were named the TELUS offensive and defensive players of the week for the period extending from November 16 to 22.

Deschamps recorded three goals and four assists for a total of seven points in three road games. Moreover, two of his markers were scored shorthanded. The Saguenéens sniper arguably played his best game of the week on Sunday, registering three points in a 6-5 overtime loss to the P.E.I. Rocket.

Gabriel Bourque (Drakkar), Sean Couturier (Voltigeurs) and Nicholas Petersen (Sea Dogs) were also considered.

On defence, Nathan Dunnett gets the honour. In two starts, the Drakkar goaltender collected two wins while posting a 0.50 goals-against-average and incredible .980 save percentage. He earned a shutout over the Rimouski Océanic on Friday, pushing away 25 shots. Baie-Comeau has won a season-best three straight games.

Matthew Hobbs (Rocket), Gabriel Girard (Cataractes) and Joël Chouinard (Tigres) were also considered.
