Press Release

The Alberta Junior Hockey League is pleased to announce the addition of Legacy Oil & Gas as the newest partner of the 2010 Crescent Point Energy Corp and Legacy Oil & Gas AJHL Showcase. The 4th annual event will take place in the AJHL community of Spruce Grove, Alberta from September 30th – October 2nd, 2010.

The Alberta Junior Hockey League is proud to continue its partnership with Crescent Point Energy Corp. as the title sponsor for the Annual AJHL Showcase. “Crescent Point Energy Corp along with Legacy Oil & Gas are remarkable partners for the AJHL”, stated AJHL Vice-President of Marketing Ryan Bartoshyk. ”The AJHL Showcase has developed into a premier event for the League and its student athletes, which has been validated by the support of the National Hockey League and the NCAA Scouting Community. We are excited to have both of these partners on our team and could not execute the AJHL Showcase without their support”

“Legacy Oil & Gas is pleased to partner with the AJHL during Showcase Weekend, where not only future stars highlight the product of their years of hard work and perseverance on the ice, but our leaders of tomorrow forge the skills that will carry them forward off the ice,” said Trent J. Yanko, President and CEO of Legacy Oil & Gas.

The partnership with the Alberta Junior Hockey League and the annual Showcase event has been fulfilling for Crescent Point. “Crescent Point is proud to support community initiatives that allow players to develop life-long skills of hard work, commitment and teamwork through playing in the AJHL,” says Scott Saxberg, President and CEO of Crescent Point.

The AJHL Showcase is a unique opportunity for the scouting community to evaluate AJHL players in one location as they compete against one another. The AJHL Showcase will include each of the League’s 16 teams playing two regular season games apiece. 400 players will participate in the three-day event at the TransAlta Tri Leisure Centre.

Through the first three years of the event, nearly 300 Scouts from the NHL, NCAA, CIS, CHL and NHL Central Scouting have experienced the talent of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. In addition, hundreds of media representatives and over 10,000 fans have enjoyed this unique showcase of talent in Alberta.
